May 5, 2010, with a picture!

Tomorrow will be a week, since I began chemo. I feel really well and I am eating too well. I've had a lot of generous friends who have showered me with yummy treats. I go tomorrow for a checkup and blood test. I am afraid to step on the scale at the doctor's office. Maybe the two days of no food will balance the last 4 days of eating whatever I want.

My hair is hanging in there, though it is not hanging too much since I had it cut so short, but it's still there. I had a scare earlier this week when my pillow was covered with hair, then I gathered the hair up and realized that my kitty, Peekaboo had been sleeping and shedding on my pillow. My short hair has been SO easy to fix, but it really makes for some interesting bed-head in the morning!

I have been tiring very easily. You don't realize how much you take your energy for granted until it leaves you. I can do everything I could always do, but only for shorter periods of time and with a rest or a nap afterwards. I've gone for a walk each day for the last three days, two outdoors and one around the local Target, hanging tight to the shopping cart. Those carts come in handy, when you get worn out.

My Dad heads back to NJ tomorrow, but luckily he has agreed to let me borrow my Mom. She has been amazing and all of us are getting spoiled having her here. I can't tell you what a comfort it's been having my parents here helping out. My Parents, something else I took for granted and now appreciate all the more.

  3. Glad to see you in a picture. I know I'm usually busy running around most of the time, but I've missed seeing you outside. So nice that your mom will get to stay and help you out. That's got to be a big comfort for you. The kids and I will be out of town this weekend. I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day! -- S
